Recognizing the fact that Washington State has one of the largest homeless veterans population in the nation, the Washington Department of the Marine Corps League quickly responded in 2003 by establishing the Homeless Veterans Committee as a Standing Committee.
The Homeless Veterans committee is charged with providing relevant, up to date information on homeless veterans to the detachments of the Department of Washington. To fulfill this task, the Committee collects information from local, regional, and national sources and disseminates them in quarterly reports to the Department.
The Committee also functions as a clearinghouse for information, answering requests for information from local Marine Corps League detachments and maintaining documents and lists of homeless veterans resources.
